If you have an emergency when the practice is closed, please call the normal practice number (01243 779111) and listen to the information message regarding our service provisions.
Daytime Emergencies:
During our normal hours, in an emergency, always call to let us know you are on your way so the duty vet can be contacted if off site to come back asap
Normal hours are 9am to 6pm Mon-Fri and 9am to 12 noon saturday
Between 8 and 9am (and 6 to 6.30pm weekdays) follow instructions on the answerphone to speak to the duty triage nurse.
Outside of normal hours:
In an out of hours emergency call the practice number for further information along with contact details for the duty triage nurse.
Whenever possible we have our own nurse on standby to provide over the phone advice. This ensures you have absolute continuity of care from a known member of the team from the outset.
If it is necessary for your pet to be seen, or should our nurse be unavailable for any reason you will be directed to South Downs Emergency Vets in Chichester or Storrington for a face to face appointment or for further advice over the phone.
If you need a home visit out of hours, and especially if sadly the time has come to say goodbye to your pet then we also recommend the Vets2Home team.
Out Of Hours Terms & Conditions:
Like many small practices, since the application of certain legislative changes to the Veterinary Profession, we have had to make a pragmatic decision regarding out of hours emergency cover. Reality is that legislation means that unless you have very large number of vets (which would lose the personal service we aim to provide) clinics like our cannot practically provide their own out of hours service and so have to out source the face to face part of the out of hours emergency care.
When registering with us we will inform you of this emergency care structure, and you should ensure that you can access this service if needed.
